supporting leaders, sharing ideas, promoting philanthropy

Founded in 1995, the Trefler Foundation has focused its attention for a decade on public high schools in Boston.

Between 1996 and 2004, the Foundation made nearly $9 million in grant commitments. During this period the Foundation's operating style can be characterized as:

                  ...Action-oriented
                  ...Willing to take risks
                  ...Focused on results
                  ...Seeking leverage
...Willing to take a public stand
                  ...Operating outside of mainstream systems

Adopting a high engagement model, the Foundation staff became deeply involved in the work of public high schools and community organizations, donating thousands of hours of time and significant experience to grantees.
